Bye-laws

VISITORS

Visitors are welcomed provided they satisfy the Club’s criteria of membership of a recognised golf Club and also, whilst on the course and in the Club premises, comply with all rules, Bye Laws and regulations currently in force.

It is the duty of members introducing visitors to ensure that they comply with the Bye-Laws of the Club.

DRESS CODE

All members are expected to follow the strict dress code applied by the club devised to be in keeping with the traditions of the game of golf.  Members are responsible for ensuring their guest(s) meet the dress standards of the club; guests and visitors may not be allowed to play golf or enter the clubhouse if they do not do so. 

The club recognises the ever-changing trends in ladies’ and gentlemen’s attire, and set out below, are simple guidelines on dress that is acceptable (and not so) on the course and in the clubhouse.

All clothing worn on the course and in the clubhouse (first floor) must be tasteful, clean and tidy at all times.  It must not be wet, muddy or stained.  Dirty work gear is not permitted.

Any recognised golf wear specifically made for playing golf.

 

 

 

Shirts
Must have a collar.  Shirts with roll or turtleneck design are acceptable.

 

In addition, for ladies

Golf shirts or tops must have either sleeve or a collar. Short tops can be worn untucked but long tops must be tucked in.

 

Shirts with large logos, football, rugby, beach wear, tracksuits/shell-suits, T-Shirts or similar attire not designed for golf.

 

Shirts which are not tucked into trousers or shorts.

 

Trousers

Coloured trousers, skirts, shorts that are ‘jeans’ style in design.

 

In addition, for ladies

Cropped trousers must be tailored.

 

 

Paramilitary style combat/cargo style trousers.

 

Trousers tucked into socks.

 

Any clothing made of blue denim.

 

Shorts

Tailored knee length shorts with similar coloured knee length sport socks or white ankle sports socks or sockettes.

 

In addition, for ladies

Shorts must be tailored, be reasonable

length and worn with sports socks or

sockettes.

 

Paramilitary style combat/cargo style shorts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Footwear

Must be designed specifically for the game of golf. 

 

In addition, for juniors:

by exception, junior golfers up to and including the age of 16 may wear trainers to play golf.

Hats

Baseball hats, caps, hats or visors.

 

 

Any hat or visor worn the incorrect way around

 

 

In addition, for juniors:

Boys: Sports clothing; smart track suits; smart tee shirts

 

Girls: Leggings, glittery shorts; shorts that are jeans style in design; smart track suits and smart tee shirts.

 

 

 

Dress Code Inside the Clubhouse

Only clean, dry, smart casual dress may be worn in the clubhouse.

 

“Jacket and Ties” may be specified on designated occasions.  In this context Jerkins and cardigans are not acceptable as jackets.

 

 

Outdoor wear such as baseball hats, caps, hats or visors, overcoats, raincoats and golf waterproofs, in the bar/restaurant areas.

 

Rugby/ Football/ T-Shirts.

Tracksuits/ shell-suits.

Shirts with holes/tears in them.

 

 

Clean, dry footwear to include modern casual shoes, sandals, loafers, deck shoes and smart trainers.   Sandals may be worn without socks.

 

Golf shoes with any kind of screw in spikes/ studs &/or which are dirty or wet.

 

 

 

Denim style coloured trousers, jeans skirts, shorts.

 

 

Any type of combat/cargo style shorts and trousers.  Frayed or torn Jeans.

 


In addition, for juniors:

Boys: Sports clothing; smart track suits; shorts and smart tee shirts

               

Girls: Leggings and glittery shorts; shorts that are jeans style in design; smart track suits and tee shirts.

 

 

OTHER

Board

 

Mobile phones/devices     

The use of mobile phones/ devices is not allowed in the bars, members room, or dining room, unless for texting, web browsing and emailing in silent mode.  Conversational calls must be confined to the landing or anywhere downstairs. 

 

Mobile phones/ devices may be taken on the Course.  Please be courteous giving consideration to other golf users; do not hold up play or distract other golfers; use golf software responsibly and legally.  Phones/ devices should be in silent mode and only used for conversation in emergencies. 

Smoking 

Smoking is not permitted in any area of the clubhouse 

Persons not meeting the dress code will be advised that the standard is not acceptable and may be asked to change or leave the course. Persistent violations of the dress code will result in the member being asked to explain his reasons to the council. The council will then decide the appropriate action.
